Bedales School is one of the UK's top independent private co-education boarding schools. Bedales comprises three schools situated in Steep, near Petersfield, Hampshire: Bedales Pre-prep School, Dunannie (ages 3–8), Bedales Prep School, Dunhurst (ages 8–13) and Bedales itself (ages 13–18).

Established in 1893, Bedales was founded to be different. Where other independent boarding schools imposed conformity, we have always nurtured individuality, initiative and an enquiring mind. Our founder, J H Badley, wanted to educate the whole person – 'head, hand and heart'. Pursuing this ideal, Bedales has evolved constantly. Most recently, we have led the way in replacing some GCSEs with our own more interesting and demanding Bedales Assessed Courses (BACs).

The 120-acre estate includes playing fields, orchards, woodland, pasture and a nature reserve; the countryside comes right to the heart of the schools. An eclectic mix of buildings adds to the charm of the setting; they range from the modern, custom-designed classrooms at Dunhurst and Dunannie through to the grade-1 listed Lupton Hall and Memorial Library and two, contemporary, award-winning buildings: the Olivier Theatre and the Orchard Building.

Bedales Senior School has 470 students, 314 of whom are boarders. Each year group (or Block as they are known at Bedales) has around 90 students. This means that 90 students are in their GCSE year and 90 in their final A Level year. Bedales Prep School, Dunhurst has 182 pupils, of whom 35 are boarders. Boarders generally join the school aged 11+, 13+ or 16+ although other entry points are possible depending on availability.

The school puts emphasis on the arts, sciences, voluntary service, pastoral care, and listening to students' views and is acclaimed for its drama, theatre, art and music. Students are also encouraged to work in the outdoors on some aspect of the estate, be it working with the school's flock of sheep or harvesting fruit from our orchards. The students who will gain most from our community are those who will give most and join us wholeheartedly in this unique educational experience.

The 2013 results show that our students can achieve their full potential across a diverse range of subjects. For A Level, 40% of all grades were A* - A and 63% of all grades were A*-B. Bedalians secured places at universities including Oxford, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Exeter, Bristol, St Andrews, York, Warwick, Leicester, Leeds, Manchester, Kings College London, University College London, Imperial College London, Plymouth, Aberdeen, Swansea, Sheffield, Nottingham and Brunel, art colleges such as Falmouth University, Arts University Bournemouth, City College Brighton, University of the Arts London and UCA Farnham, as well as international institutions including New York University.
